THE SEA TURTLE
'Catch Waves Not Turtles'
The sea is a place for us to enjoy exploring, to fish sustainably, and to have fun. But to other creatures on this earth it’s their home, it’s where they survive, and before we began to interfere it’s where they were able to thrive.
Every year thousands of turtles are caught and killed for their eggs, meat, skin and shells. They also face habitat destruction. Climate change has an impact on turtle nesting sites. As fishing activity expands, this threat is more of a problem. Plastic pollution also has a devastating impact, many as 50% of sea turtles are ingesting plastics at an unprecedented rate and dying because of this.
Sea turtles need to reach the surface to breathe, and therefore many drown once caught. Nearly all species of sea turtle are classified as endangered, with loggerhead and hawksbill turtles particularly vulnerable.
Telling someone what they’re doing is wrong will never work. What you need to do is make the world think about the way it’s acting, and you can do it by being memorable. That’s why we want to spread the word that it’s better to catch a wave, than a turtle.
'For every sale we make, we donate to various projects which support the preservation of ecosystems and its inhabitants'.
